A time came when the children left home and I decided to
move back to beautiful British Columbia and eventually retire there. Vienna
Treasures came to mind again, but what kind of products does Vienna Treasures
carry. Pastries was on top of the list. Megan enjoyed my Dobos Torte and other recipe’s
from an Austrian cookbook and there was a time when I made my own bread.
In 2001 after using my
colleagues as taste testers by bringing my baking to work, Lawrence said why
don’t
you
sell your baking at the Farmer’s Market. He even brought me information
about Your Local Farmer’s Market, as he is a regular at the Trout Lake market.
I was excited, never having done anything like this, but I felt I had a chance
in a phone call with the Executive Director of the Society. All products were
approved and now I was committed to supplying 2 or 3 market locations. And the
rest, as they say, is history.
Now you’re wondering,
what is the meaning of the name “Vienna Treasures”?
My Mother and Father
met and married in Vienna and that is where I started out. With Papa at war, my
Mother went back to her family in Gmunden, Austria, where I was born. My
mother’s name now is Schatz, which is Treasure in German.
As I get older and
look for meaning in my life I return to my roots. I give homage to my creator
for my very being and offer my talents and efforts as thanks for my life, the
original Vienna Treasure.
Here is an
excerpt from a dear friend of mine because I could not have said it better
myself:
You are born to be an EXCELLENT FIRST CLASS BAKER (Don't denied it!
"I am not a baker"). ……… your hidden undiscovered talent and what you could do
different than the other million bakers out there. You bake professional, rooted
from Austria the country of "Torte and Kuchen" and especially with your love and
soul.
Tell the people of what you are dreaming about with Vienna
Treasures. To be listed on TSX , New York Exchange or ………!
My dream is to give
Thanks for being able to love each and every customer I meet and to share A
Taste of Austria.
